{Recipe} Homemade Salsa

My mother-in-law, Jane, came over earlier this week to help with some things around the house. (We were going to paint the kitchen but I still haven’t bought the paint…) She brought me over some vegetables from their garden, and when I say “some vegetables” I mean, LOTS OF VEGETABLES! Oh man, I am going to be so spoiled.

So I made what any reasonable person would make. Salsa! Here is the recipe that Jane gave me. I had fun chopping everything up.

Chunky Salsa
6 cups chopped tomatoes
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped peppers
3T white distilled vinegar
2T lemon juice
1tsp onion powder
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp salt

I put all of the ingredients into a crock pot and cooked it for a couple of hours. I also added chopped mushrooms and corn, just because I had them.

It turned out pretty yummy! Salsa is always welcome in my house. (Although it doesn’t stay around for long!) Mmmmmm…

  1. 1) I hate the math quiz part of commenting here.

    2) You should come over. We canned about 24 jars of salsa

    yesterday and about ten of black bean soup today!

    Yum!

    • 1) It was crazy, I was getting like 50 spam comments a day on here before I added that math quiz widget and I haven't gotten a single one since.

      2) I totally told mom to make salsa! So you're welcome! {wink}
