I Shirred!

I’ve been wanting to try elastic shirring FOREVER, but I’d been too intimidated by it since I’m new to sewing. Plus, I had a hard time finding elastic thread. I finally decided to give it a try last night, and I’m addicted! This top turned out so cute! I’ll definitely be experimenting more with it when I get some free time.

I used the skirt portion of a 5T dress that I had been trying to modify to be Juniper’s size. (It didn’t work out…) And I of course had to add a fabric flower to the front!

Juniper wasn’t being very cooperative for the camera. But she sure looked darling in her new top!

  1. What kind of sewing machine do you have.. I saw the cutest little sun suite, I think my friend Alissa may have showed it to me… I'll give you the link but it requires shirring and my sewing machine doesn't do it :( #/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2 <a href="http:// <a> Fwww.made-by-rae.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaby-sunsuit-tutorial.html&h=fee2d” target=”_blank”> <a href="http:// <a href="http://Fwww.made-by-rae.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaby-sunsuit-tutorial.html&h=fee2d“” target=”_blank”>Fwww.made-by-rae.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaby-sunsuit-tutorial.html&h=fee2d“ target=”_blank”> <a href="http://Fwww.made-by-rae.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaby-sunsuit-tutorial.html&h=fee2d” target=”_blank”>Fwww.made-by-rae.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaby-sunsuit-tutorial.html&h=fee2d

  2. This is SO cute!! I'm jealous of your sewing machine! Mine NEVER works, and it's really frustrating. Especially when I'm in the middle of a project that I don't have time for ANYway, I'd like to be able to work on it when I DO have time, you know?? also, I miss your face, and I need to see it soon. :)

  3. @julesI know exactly what you mean Julie! I had an older machine for a while that my aunt had found at a yard sale, and it never ever worked… So I got rid of it and bought my nice new one :) Shaun convinced me to buy the more expensive one and I LOVE it.
