About a month ago I decided that my craft room set up was just not working. I was having to dig through too many boxes and such to get all of the supplies I needed for any given project. And I’ll be the first to admit, I am dang lazy when it comes to putting away crafty supplies. Especially when I feel like I’m just going to use them again in a couple of days! But really, it was getting a bit out of hand and I needed to come up with some way to keep it relatively organized.
My first step was to DUMP OUT EVERYTHING. I emptied my closet, drawers, bins, everything, basically into a giant pile in the middle of the floor and started fresh. Linsday helped me get a jump start on my fabric organization and I slowly began filling out the shelves. Last night for the first time in forever, I felt like I might be done cleaning it all back up soon! Its looking much nicer in there, and I’m feeling good about where everything is stored.
All of my fabric and sewing related stuff is now located on the left shelves. I rolled all of my bigger pieces of fabric, and stuck a bunch of small remnants in different bins. All of my zippers and biased tape are stored in my hat box, and my notions are stored in the desk. My craft books are on these shelves too since most of them are sewing related. I still have one big bin of sewing supplies that I need to organize, and I want to make a thread holder, but I love how it’s coming together. It’s so nice to be able to see everything!
One or two more nights in there and I should have everything wrapped up. Of course, for that to happen I need to stop being so easily distracted. I made a huge mess this weekend digging out all of my scrapbook stuff! I put it all away though. (Mostly.)
