Map of Calyhon – Scultpure

You know those projects that pop into your head and refuse to let you accomplish a single other thing until they are finished? I’ve got a couple of swap projects that I needed to finish up this week, but this map has been consuming all of my free time. (Who needs sleep anyway?)

I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW HAPPY THIS MAP MAKES ME!!

I literally can’t stop staring at it. It turned out so much better than I could have imagined. I have spent countless hours sketching a million versions of this map, trying to get everything just right. Sculpting it this way helped SO much with finalizing everything and I am so stinking excited to start writing the stories that take place in this world! Ugh. So much excited.

Next month I am doing Camp NaNoWriMo again. I was planning on trying to finish the first draft of my first book, but I decided to go the short story route again. I joined a cabin of people who are doing a short story challenge. One short story a day for the whole month of April. I don’t know if I’ll be able to write that many, but my goal is to write at least ten. All of my stories are going to take place in this fantastic world of mine. Some will focus on various characters back stories, some will be completely random based on prompts, and some will be scenes that I actually want to include in the books. I kind of can’t wait to get started. I have a couple of non-writing goals for Camp NaNo as well. One of which was to finalize the map, which well, I guess I’ve already done! I also want to do one illustration. I know exactly which one I want to work on. And IF I ever decide to publish these short stories, this is the illustration I want to be on the cover. Trust me, it’ll be good. I hope anyway.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited about my book. SO EXCITED! Ok, I’m going to clean my office now. But first I’ll probably stare at this map sculpture for like 20 minutes smiling like a crazy person.
